Kikko Net is a semi-rigid net system made of polyester monofilament – polyethylene terephthalate – which utilizes a special double-twist knitting method to ensure strength and durability. It is used in open ocean aquaculture and in land use for soil erosion prevention, soil stabilization, rock restraint, and as gabion baskets.
Kikko Net is extremely strong and lightweight – 1/5 the weight of steel. The life span of Kikko Net in the sea is 30 years and counting – total life expectancy is calculated at 50 to 100 years. The black netting is exceptionally resistant to UV rays and resists deterioration in acidic, volcanic soil, or sea water. It is also more algae-resistant than softer netting.
